Please provide a step by step guide on how to prepare your soil. Don’t forget to include where your products fit into the process. Also add the benefits of preparing your social properly and tips/informative information about the process (eg. Research shows soil in the Philippines is highly acidic. Our can help reduce acidity).
Soil Testing
Soil Nutrient Analysis – to determine the amount of nutrients present in the soil and test for possible deficiencies
- Testing will be done in the Department of Agriculture Regional Soil Laboratory
- Price: Php 3,970
- Results out in 12 days
- Step by step collection information found here: https://rfo3.da.gov.ph/regional-soils-laboratory/
Alternative method to soil testing
Soil pH Test – to determine soil ph level and find out the level of acidity in the soil using a pH meter
- Testing will be done by a Sagrex Plant Nutrition Specialist (PNS)
- Free
- Results out same day
- Importance & benefits of soil pH testing
– If the soil is acidic (any pH reading below 7), the soil can only absorb 30% of nutrients. Any kind of fertilizer will not be fully absorbed by the crop leading to deficiencies and
– Ideal soil condition can be achieved by using Sagrex Products of Duofos and Humic Acid Granular to ensure that the soil is in ideal condition to absorb all nutrients being applied
– This allows users to maximize use of fertilizer, save money, and produces healthier crops
Steps of using pH meter
- Dig – Use a shovel and dig a small hole on the area you wish to test
- Remove debris – Break up the soil to ensure that there are no large rocks or debris mixed with the soil
- Add water – pour water into the area and mix it with the soil until consistency is muddy
- Insert soil pH meter – wipe the ph meter with cloth then place into the soil (approximately 5cm deep, wait around 1 minute)
- Check indicator – check the scale and the pH value of your soil. A soil pH level of in 6.5-7 is generally the most favorable for plant growth but this could also depend on the crop and what it needs.
A.) 7 is neutral
B.) 8-14 – alkaline
C.) 0-6 – acidic
Interpreting the results
- If soil is 0-6 – Soil is acidic, we recommend 10 bags of Duofos (20kg/bag) per hectare for basal application to bring back soil to ideal condition.
– Urea and potash need to be applied with Duofos as usual
– We recommend the use of Duofos as soil conditioner one month before planting seeds for best results - If soil is 7 and above – Soil is neutral-alkaline, we recommend 6-8 bags of Duofos (20kg/bag) per hectare for basal application.
– Urea and potash need to be applied with Duofos as usual
– We recommend the use of Duofos as soil conditioner and fertilizer one month before planting seeds for best results

Steps in using Duofos after determining soil PH level
For Acidic Soil, use as soil conditioner
Recommendation: Use 10 bags of Duofos per hectare, per cropping
- Basal application or 1st Dose
a. Basal – Use Duofos on soil 1-2 days before planting seeds by broadcasting it on the soil (broadcasting – ground application, spreading the fertilizer on the surface of the field)
b. 1st Dose – Apply Duofos by broadcasting it on the soil followed by the seedling
c. Apply 4 (20kg) bags per hectare - Side Dress
a. During the middle vegetative stage of the crop (approx. around 30-45 days), broadcast Duofos on the soil
b. Apply 3 (20kg) bags per hectare - Top Dress
a. Approx around 50-55 days after planting, broadcast Duofos on the soil
b. Apply (20kg) 3 bags per hectare
For Non Acidic Soil, use as fertilizer
Recommendation: Use 10 bags of Duofos per hectare, per cropping
- Basal application or 1st Dose
